The Folk Art Museum of Patra Peloponnese: The Museum of Folk Art in Patras was founded in 1977 by the Cultural Centre of Patras, with the aim to collect and preserve the folklore culture of the area. It preserves a large collection of artifacts and other items that have significant value among the folks.
The exhibits include many agricultural tools of rural Patras, furniture and articles of daily use, details about different modes of transport, agricultural products and many handcrafted items that are unique of Patras villages. Many of the folk concepts and traditions are explained with the help of photographs.
The museum has got a big library and a photo archive. It organizes debates and lectures concerning folklore, archaeology and architecture. Many traditional workrooms are available for hat making, shoe making or wax making, which attract many students and adults to the museum on a daily basis. |
