Nea Monemvasia Village Monemvasia: Nea Monemvasia is the new settlement of this ancient city, connected to it by a small causeway. Nea Monemvasia is also known as "Gefira". The main feature of this settlement is that it offers many facilities in terms of amusement and basic needs. This provides tourists the chance of enjoying the ancient sites Monemvasia offers, combined to a good level of convenience.

Among the resulting facilities we can mention its many accommodation options, such as hotels, rooms and apartment rentals, as well as a camping site. There is also a good number of taverns, bars and cafes. Some of them are great night-life spots, offering live music and closing late in the evening.
 
When it comes to the beach of Nea Monemvasia, it has pebbles and a nice harbour, constituting a good initial point where from continuing to explore the surrounding areas. In case of not having a car, there is a frequent small bus that goes from the entrance to the castle walls, to the town of Nea Monemvasia, placed at about 2 km down the road.
