Beaches: Xifias beach in Monemvasia |
Xifias beach Monemvasia: The long beautiful beach of Xifias is on the southern area of Monemvasia, at approximately 4 km from the town. It is close to the villages of Agia Paraskevi, Nomia, and Agios Stefanos; all of them offering nice beaches great for swimming. The waters are clean and warm.
The beach of Xifias, apart from having all the typical attractive features of most Greek beaches, has an extra advantage; its vast options in terms of accommodation. The existence of these accommodation options keeps the tourism alive, which assures a good offer of facilities and conveniences in the area.
The area of Xifias used to constitute an important city called Xifoupolis. However, in our days, the first inhabitant of this area was an Englishman who came in 1957. Then, the current village of Xifias started to get populated, and in the present there are many British and German people who have bought properties in the area. |
