Kyparissia is also known for its great castle above the town. The Castle of Kyparissia occupies a fascinating position giving a great view of the town and the Ionian Sea.
Although the exact period of its establishment is not known, it is believed that the present structure was built on the site of an ancient acropolis. During the Byzantine period, under the rule of Emperor Justinian, this Fortress was built with four turrets surrounding it. |
