A trip to my roots in Kranidi

Kranidi is just a small village as the other villages of Greece but me I am sentimentally connected to it, as my granny was from there. So, when we visited it this summer for the first time, I was touched to see a mountainous village with so much history for me. Of course, my granny, who migrated young to the US, was not with us, but I remember her telling us stories about her childhood, the games she was playing in the countryside around the village and how hard life was then. Our uncle, who runs a store in Kranidi and insisted on hosting us, also arranged to spend a night in the Monastery of Panagia Pantanassa because he thought this would be more picturesque for us, "a couple of American girls who really need to feel their Greekness" (I believe these were his thoughts this summer, that is why he was so happy to get us there and away :)) Yes, my dear uncle Fotis, you did it, we felt we were truly Greek and we look forward to see you again this summer.
