ancient constructions, the presence of museums showing these manifestations and important findings is something that Epidaurus cannot lack of.To begin with, the Archaeological museum was built between 1902 and 1909.
It is located near the theatre, and counts on an important plaque that declares the Archaeological site of Epidaurus as part of the World Heritage.
The man who built this museum was responsible for the excavations in this town, so the idea for the museum was to exhibit and preserve the findings that came to light from this excavation. However, some of these pieces are reproductions of the original ones that are found in the National Archaeological Museum of Athens.
Some of the main findings displayed at the museum are the building inscriptions and hymns, many of them related to Asklepios and his miraculous cures. Most of these inscriptions are placed in a special hall. Asclepios is widely present in many ancient elements, a fact that reflects the popularity of this cult in this town.
