are small but simple in architecture. Elafonissos has a permanent population of only 750 residents. In the village there are cafeterias, bars and traditional taverns serving local delicacies and recipes that will remain unforgettable. It is nice to walk along the paved streets and narrow alleys.
For a special night out, Elafonissos offers numerous options like a visit in the beautiful taverns and the special bars located on the beachfront or hidden in the narrow streets of the village. In the port of Elafonissos there is a tiny islet with a small Byzantine church of Agios Spyridonas. It stands proudly as the main church of the island and it is accessed through a narrow bridge.
The island is dotted with some of the most beautiful beaches in Greece with deep blue waters and sand making them an ideal spot for swimming and sunbathing. The most famous beaches of Elafonissos are Simos and Sarakiniko. Sand-dunes cover the long beach and crystal waters create a paradise for swimmers. These two exotic beaches are the most popular and most-photographed spots on the island, although there are many other smaller bays to relax in privacy. |
