Elafonissos is a tiny island on the southern side of the peninsula of Laconia, eastern Peloponnese. Only a narrow strait of sea separates it from the town of Neapoli, on the opposite coast of Peloponnese, from where the ferries to Elafonissos depart.

The most famous beach of Elafonissos is Simos, a gorgeous beach of white sand, crystal water and some tamarisk bushes on shore. Other exotic beaches are Panagitsa and Sarakiniko.
The only village on the island is located on the northern side and also serves as the main port. Inhabitants make their living from fishing and tourism. |
