Five Greek islands are included in the list with the 111 best islands of the world, as published by National Geographic. This well-esteemed magazine cooperated with a team of 522 tourism experts from all over the world and chose the best islands of the globe based on criteria like the authenticity of the place, the culture, ecosystem, beaches and tourist facilities. Of course, the competition was severe but those five Greek islands managed to rise from the rank, keeping their special character and beauty.

In particular, Hydra (included in the top 20 positions), Corfu, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini have been selected by National Geographic as some of the best islands of the world in terms of tourism and tradition.
