Only 14 days remain till Saturday, March 28th, 08.30 p.m, when the world will turn its lights off for one hour to show its concern about climate change, just a few months before the World Meeting for Climatic Change in Copenhagen next December. With this action, individuals, organizations and governments are showing their protest against environmental problems, one of the most important issues of humanity.

Responding quickly in this initiative, Greece is found 5th in the global rank among the countries with the biggest participation, just behind Australia, the homeland of this initiative, France, Belgium and Canada. In fact, more than 160 municipalities, 80 enterprises and thousands of civilians have officially registered to take part in the Earth Hour. Also that hour, many Greek monuments, such as the Acropolis, the Lycabettus Monument in Athens, the White Tower in Thessaloniki and many castles in different towns, will not be lightened.
