Greek candidacy for the 2014 World Basketball Championships

Yesterday, 29th April, 2008, Greece submitted its official candidacy to host the 2014 World Basketball Championships. However, the competition is strong. Countries with long and strong basketball tradition, such as Italy, Russia, France and Spain, have also expressed their will to host this special event. The results are to be announced within a year's time, in April 2009. Note that the 2010 World Basketball Championships will be held in Turkey.
