Medieval Greek volume by Cambridge
Posted by Greeka on 22 May 2008
A tome detailing the grammar of Medieval Greek (1100-1700 AD) will be published in 2010 within the framework of a University of Cambridge research program, headed by faculty of medieval and modern languages at the renowned British institution.
Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the program was launched in 2004 and it aims at quantifying Medieval Greek, which constitutes the evolution between the language of the New Testament Gospels and Modern Greek. Thereby, what is created is a tool useful for scholars studying texts dating back to that period. The 1,000-page volume will analyze Medieval Greek in terms of phonology, morphology and syntax.
