holiday Amorgos - june 2005 |
It's not easy to get to the island Amorgos because it is one of the most easterly of the Cyclades.(after te stop in Amorgos ther ferryt brings you to Astipalea) That's one of the reasons why I wanted to go there,. From Belgium your first have to take a flight to Santorini, then a ferry to Naxos an afterwards take a little ferry to Amorgos. There are only three towns: the harbours Katapola (western side)and Egiali (eastern side)and the old hillvillage Chora. This village is really still unspoiled. No t-shirt shops only two little restaurants, one nice bar with good relaxing music, one shop, one pharmacy and some basic rooms. At the harbours you have some more basic shops and little restaurants. This island is perfect for people who like the quietness of a greek island, perfect for walkers with a good physical condition to take the welknown foothpath Egiali on the top of the island. Of course everybody has once seen in his life the picture of the white monastery CHOZOVIOTISSA, 300 m above sea level. You have some good beaches in the bays of Egiali (with super standard hotel on a cliff) and Katapola. The famous tiny Agia Anna nudist beach is only suitable for a few people and the steps to get there are rough. The few roads on this mountainous island give you fantastic views, sometime you see the both seasides of the island at once, 360°. More your eyes can see. An island to discover for greek fanatics! I stayed 4 days, 2 at Egiali (luxus hotel)and 2 at Katapola. I prefered my stay at Maria Rooms Katapola and in the afternoon, with the car, pay a visit to Chora to listen to the relaxing music and went to the beach in front of Katapola. No many busses on Amorgos,so if you have the possibility to have your own mobility you will get more freedom on your visits and beachtime. |

Holidays - Naxos - june 2005 |
This is the island for beachlovers. Here you can enjoy of endless sandy beaches. But if you rent a car you can discover the country with little taverna's where, for no price, you can still have a meal.I like to stay at Aja Anna : beautiful sunsets, beachrestaurants, nice rooms, quiet.
Even on the promenade of the city of Chora you can eat greek food for less money. The city-harbour is very interesting with several architectural influences. The little streets bring freshness during your visit. Several high standard restaurants and hotels are situated in the old center.
The best way to get there is to take the ferry from Santorini, because there are no directly flights from Belgium to Naxos . You first have to fly to Santorini.
Be honnest staying at Santorini is not a punishment, excepting for your holidaybudget of course. |

Naxos is really a great island. Very big that is gives you great opportunities for excursions. All the activity is concentrated in the north west. All the rest is really authentic and picturesque. |

Holidays - Milos - june 2006 |
Aproaching Milos with the ferry you first see a beautiful, nearly closed enormous bay, with a little harbour. But walking in the uggly harbour, looking for accommodation, you are asking yourself what you shall do on this island? Rent a scooter or a car and you will change your mind. A charming little village-harbour for a stay for several days is Pollonia. On the other side of the island. You'll find a lot of charming rooms and fish-restaurants and for the same price you can enjoy a beautiful sunset.
You need some time to discover the beauty of Milos. The beautiful rocks of different colors make a great impression on me. We liked to go swimming on nearly deserted beaches. Be curious when you travel on that island and you will see beautiful places. |

It is true that the first approach is really bad. But I consider today Milos as one of the most beautiful islands of the Aegean. |

holidays - sifnos - june 2006 |
Sifnos is a charming cycladic island. You can reach it with a ferry from pireaus. You can make a lot of beautiful photos because the scenary is everywhere so charming. The villages are authentic (not the harbour). The best way to visit the island is to rent a car at the harbour. The food is everywhere the best you can find in Greece because of the good products the restaurants use. Most of the restaurants have land and vegetables on their own they use in their cooking. I discover on this island the forgotten good taste of a lot of ingredients. If you have enough budget to spend stay at the windmill hotel bella vista on the top of the island with a swimming-pool with astonishing view.
If you like to make great walks, you can use the old foothpaths. Years ago they were the only way to go from one village to another.
I was expecting to stay 4 days and travel then to Milos, but I stayed 2 days more because I feel so good on this island.
Rich people from Athens comes in the week-ends to spend their leisure time at Sifnos. I saw several weddings on the island. The family came with a helicopter to have a great party and rich yachting boats were staying in the bays. Such a beautiful place is a must for each greek-island lover. |

Holidays- Plakias - south of crete - october 2007 |
This charming little harbour has a lot of good fish restaurants, shops, and accommodation (apartments, rooms and hotels).
You can make great walks in the village on the seapromenade. To go to the start of greater walks (in the canyons) you best need a car. or take a taxi (they are used to it, and show you where the walking trips are beginning). There a beautiful beaches and little bays in the neighbourhood were swimming is delightfull.
You can make a lot of trips to visit little villages ans spots with the car. Rethymno is only 30 min drive to plakias.
We stayed one week in Plakias and were not boring at all. |
