I went along the 800 meters long beach of Myrto...

Video of Myrtos, of Kefalonia uploaded by MSPANAKIS on 23-05-2010

Title: Myrtos beach (part 2)
Description: I went along the 800 meters long beach of Myrtos which is situated in the region of Pylaros, in the north-west of Kefalonia, Greece, between two mountains, Agia Dynati and Kalon Oros. It has previously been voted 12 times the best Greek beach and has been quoted in at least one of the published world lists of top-ten beaches. It is cited as No 36 in the world in a widely used travel website. Myrtos beach was also identified as a priority destination in a review of the Telegraph Newspaper in 2008. The surrounding sediment at Myrtos Beach is generally made of marble, a metamorphosed limestone. The beach is made of round white cobblestones which decrease in size to that of a small pebble. The sediment gradually becomes smaller as you approach the shoreline. Because of the sharp drop near the edge of the shoreline the wave energy is very high. This wave action is what causes the gradation trends from cobbles to pebbles.
