Thessaloniki, the second biggest town in Greece, is rich in archaeological sites, has nice beaches closeby and a vivid nightlife, which three make it an excellent tourist destination.
Tourism is highly developed in Thessaloniki, as plenty of hotels dot the centre and the suburbs of the town. The most organized beach close to Thessaloniki is Agia Triada, on the osuthern side, where you can also find other beautiful and clean coasts.
Do not forget that Thessaloniki is close to one of the most popular tourist destinations in mainland Greece, Halkidiki, which also makes it popular as a daily excursion from a beach resort there.
