Works for the construction of the Metro in Thessaloniki brought to light part of an ancient street, about 70 metres long, that had been constructed by the Romans and was the main street of the town some 1,800 years ago. The interesting thing is that in many of the large stones of this marble road, table games for children had been engraved, while in other parts of the street traces from wheels had been inprinted.

Archaeologists believe that this Roman street was constructed on top of an older street that had been built by the Greeks about 500 years before. This marble Roman street was discovered about 7 metres under the ground, while it seems to follow the modern Egnatia Street. This will be one of the exhibits in the Metro of Thessaloniki, when the construction will have finished, in about 4 years from today.
