Halkidiki Nea Phokea Village

Nea Phokea village Halkidiki: This city is the gateway into the peninsula of Cassandra and was founded after 1922 by some immigrants who came from eastern Thrace. The town is built on the site of ancient Potidea, an antiquity city founded by Corinthian colonists around 600 BC, which had a really turbulent history.

It is one of the prettiest villages of Halkidiki with great historical background. It is located near the canal, which is open since 1930 and divides the peninsula from the rest of Halkidiki, 40 km south of Poligiros.

It is surrounded by the deep blue waters of Thermaikos and Toroneos Gulf. Worth-seeing in Nea Potidea are the canal, the ruins of the historical castle and the church of the Taxiarches. Many other remarkable sights can be found in and around the city. Nea Potidea has many restaurants, hotels, bars, cafes, clubs, shops and public services.
