Many
villages of Halkidiki try to conserve their traditions
and old customs, so they can be easily found by someone
interesting to see them and understand the people of
Halkidiki.
Most of the customs have been brought by the Greek refugees
who came from Asia Minor after 1922.
Carnival is celebrated at Polygyros, at Agio Mamas,
at Aphytos, at Nikiti, at Polychrono, Stratoni, Arnaea
and Flogita; during those festivities local food is
offered as well as local

the feast day of the Dormitorion of the Virgin (15th of
July), big celebrations and festivities take place at
the villages of Megali Panaghia, at Aphytos,

Various
cultural events take place during the feast of saint
Panteleimon, celebrated on the 27th of July, at Kallithea.
Nea Moudania and Nea Rhoda organise every July a Sardine
Festival.
On
the Sunday before the last of July swimmers gathered
in Kallithea to participate to the “crossing of the
Toronean Gulf” and swim until Nikiti.
