In
addition, another important and world famous festival in Athens
also takes place during the summer months, in the open ancient
Roman theatre of Herod Atticus, just underneath the Acropolis.
Eminent artist groups from all over the world, for opera, ballet
(modern and classical), and ancient Greek drama perform there,
and it is strong-ly recommended that one should attend at least

The
National Arhaeological Museum of Athens with its priceless ancient
Greek exhibits, as well as the Byzantine Museum and the Benakis
Pop Art Museum are no more than a quarter of hour walking distance
away.
If you want to try delicious and traditional Greek cooking, several
taverns spread all over Lycabettus Hill can be found, only a walking
distance away, as also can be found the choice restaurant of Hotel
St.George Lycabettus roof garden, hardly 700m. walk-ing distance.
One of the most elegant shopping centres of Athens, where high
quality shops are side by side with nice restaurants, is situated
in Colonaki Square, also a ten minute walk away from the apartment.
Are
you interested in sunny beaches and night life? Half an hour by
car will take you to Glyfada or Voula with their beautiful tourist
beaches and the most glamorous night clubs and restaurants of
the Athens area, particularly during the summer season.
The
port of Pireus, also half an hour drive from the centre of Athens,
and conside-rably less if you take the subway, is the place where
you can take the boat and visit all the famous Greek islands,
such as Myconos (3 hours), Hydra and Spetses (1.5 hours), Aegina
(1 hour), &c.
