Zakynthos Maries 01 Maries Zakynthos: The traditional village of Maries is located 20 kilometres south-west of the capital of Zakynthos, on the top of a verdant hill.
It is a quiet and charming village full of traditional stone houses and narrow streets and has a population of about 700 inhabitants.

The central square of the village is lovely and offers a magnificent view over the Ionian Sea.
 

Panagia Mariesotissa is the church of the village, standing bellow the village and housing an icon supposed to have miraculous properties.
