Zakynthos Villages: Keri village in Zakynthos Keri Zakynthos: The traditional village of Keri is located 20 kilometres south-west from the capital of Zakynthos, on the top of a verdant hill. It is a quiet and charming village made of traditional stone houses and narrow streets with a population of about 700 inhabitants. The central square of the village is really charming and offers a magnificent view over the Ionian Sea.

Panagia Keriotissa is the church of the village. That church stands bellow the village and houses an icon said to have some miraculous properties. Keri Hotels & accommodation Keri Beach Our Impressions: From the beach to the village itself there is a nice climb up through the hills. The village has largely escaped the growth of tourism unscathed and there are just a couple of cafes here. The streets are narrow and the houses are traditional with their orange roofs. The church of Panagia Kerkotissa has a belltower that has been coloured by time. The carved stone window borders are very impressive though. Keri beach actually lies 5 kilometres from the main village itself. It is a smallish strip of white pebbles which is backed by some trees which provide shade. There is small harbour to the right. From here you get a superb view of Marathonisi island. The beach is very busy and because there isn’t much space it gets very cramped. There is a diving centre here. A pleasant village that lies right at the southern tip of the island. The beach is not that special and is too busy for comfort. ...........................................................................................................................................
