berylriches 08 Nov 2007You will come back totally refreshedAlykes is so welcoming and you feel completely safe. Never once felt uncomfortable walking around at night. The beach and sea is just the best. Like stepping into a warm bath. This is what Alykes is all about, wonderful beach. The people in Alykes are lovely. The tavernas serve wonderful food at any time you want it. The people go out of their way to make you welcome. Add to that the sunshine. There is nothing else you could want. If you walk up the mountains you get a picture of the history of the place and other attractions are just a boatride away. Interesting scenery. Because of the salt flats it is slightly different. Maybe a little clean up between the Astoria and Montreal Hotel is needed, but it really isn't a problem. Somehow adds to the charm!
The local food is exquisite. You should always be tasting local cuisine when you visit a different country. For those people who are more fussy they serve a variety of foods from all other countries. So there is something for everyone. There is only one restaurant we would not return to.
Go to Alykes. Stay at the Montreal and sit on the beach, enjoying the sunshine and view. Visit a different Taverna every evening. You will come back totally refreshed. I am told Argassi is also a lovely place.
