 Every year, the owners of the olive presses of Zakynthos would receive complaints about polluting the environment with the juices from the olives and they would get fines for that. To deal with this problem, they built a factory of ecological elaboration of the olive oil. This factory is found in Lithakia village, on the southern part of the island, and works in two phases. This means that there are no juices from the olives, so there is no pollution to the environment. This unit has a total capacity of 150 tones and it was by 44% financed by the Developement Law of the Greek State.
