In brief, Zakynthos has an international airport that receives several domestic and international flights. More airplanes approach the airport during the summer months to serve the tourists.

The International Airport of Zakynthos is also named Dionysios Solomos, in honor of the poet who wrote the Greek National Anthem. Its IATA airport code is (ZTH) and it is located 3.5 km away from the main port in the island's capital, Zakynthos Town.
It is connected directly with the International Airport of Athens, as well as other airports across Greece and Europe.
It was dedicated in 1971 but several alterations have been made since its establishment.

Planes

The airport receives flights from both Greece and abroad.
Concerning domestic flights, Zakynthos is connected with the international airports of Athens and Heraklion and the national airports of Corfu and Kefalonia. The flights are operated by the air companies Sky Express and Olympic Air.

Public buses

The airport is connected to Zakynthos Town via a public bus (KTEL) route. Guests will find the buses' starting point in front of the Terminal Station (Arrivals).
The route is available six (6) times per day during the high season; the first bus departs from the Airport at 08:30 and the last at 19:30.
After reaching the capital town, visitors have to opportunity to board another bus to get to different locations on the island, such as Laganas, Argassi, Tsilivi and Kalamaki.
All buses have plenty of space for luggage storage that passengers can use for free after purchasing a ticket.

Transfers & Taxis

Visitors will find taxis outside the Terminal Station. However, catching a taxi immediately after arriving is quite unlikely if you are traveling in the summer.
