Meganisi Museums, Greece: Information about the museums of Meganisi, Ionian

Meganisi is a small island inhabited by the ancient years. However, due to its size, there isn’t a museum on the island to preserve and promote its cultural identity.

If you want to visit a museum, you can go to the neighbouring island of Lefkada, which is only a 20 minute boat ride to Nydri. The area of Nydri hosts two folkore museums, one in Rachi village and the other in Neochori village.

The folklore museum in Rachi village represents a traditional Lefkadian house and exhibits textiles, costumes, agricultural tools and old housewares.

The folklore museum of Neochori is housed in an old olive press and exhibits the personal collection of Panagiotis Tsatsoulas, which consists of traditional musical instruments and pieces of olive press equipment.

For other types of museums, you can go to the town of Lefkada. The most popular museums there are the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Phonographs.

You can also find many interesting museums and archaeological sites all over Lefkada island, such as the Castle of Agia Mavra and the Ecclesiastical Museum in the Monastery of Faneromeni.
