Lefkada Sea Lakes

Lefkada Sea Lakes: The incredible Island of Lefkada is swarming with tourists during most part of the year, as this Ionian island is dotted with traditional remnants of the classical era and is also endowed with myriad forms of flora and fauna.

The lagoons, which surround the historic town of Lefkada, support a unique ecology consisting of various forms of life. There are two Lagoons near the town of Lefkada, which are called Divari and Ivaria. These lagoons are frequented by different types of migratory birds from winter to spring. The thick rushes, which cover the area around the lagoons, provide a safe shelter to these birds.

Gulls are found in this area of Lefkada throughout the year but several other types of rare migratory birds arrive in flocks at the start of autumn. The most common ones that are seen around the area are the Loufas or Falarides, Kormoranos, Herons or Tsikniades, Swans, Prasinokefalopapies,
