Kythira Agricultural Exhibition

The Agricultural Exhibition of Kythira, in the Ionian: The Agricultural Exhibition of Fratsia in Kythira takes place every year, at the end of August to present and promote the rich agricultural production of the island.

Kythira, which bases its economy mostly on agriculture and fishing, has a vast production, mostly with olive oil, honey, wine, cheese and spoon sweets. These rural products, as well as textile and ceramic items, are displayed in the Agricultural Veterinarian Exhibition of Fratsia, where individual producers and agricultural associations participate. Visitors can taste the products exhibited and buy them.

The whole exhibition is performed in a very traditional atmosphere. Local women are dressed in the traditional costume of the island, which is called spaleta and local bands play traditional music. People eat, drink wine and dance. As almost all events in Greece, this exhibition ends up at a traditional festival.
