The filming for the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” is expected to start next month is Kefalonia and to last till August. The movie is based on a novel by Louis de Bernier and will be directed by John Madden. Famous Hollywood stars will feature, including Nicolas Cage, Penelope Cruz and Irene Papas. The film tells the story of a young girl who falls in love with an Italian commander during the World War II.
The producers of the film were enthralled by the beauty of Kefalonia and choose particular location s for their filming, such as the picturesque harbour of Sami, Antisamos beach and cape Dichalia. This fact is expected to increase the tourist development of the island and to attract more visitors.
