About transportation in Kefalonia island, Greece

Buses leave from the central bus station in Argostoli for the most popular destinations around the island, including Skala, Poros, Svoronata, Fiscardo and almost all tourist places in Kefalonia. The central bus station in Argostoli is located opposite the bridge De Bosset.


There are taxi ranks in all central and tourist spots of Kefalonia. There are also taxis at the port anytime a ferry arrives and at the airport. Alternatively you can book your transfer online.

Car rentals

There are car and motorbike rentals in all tourist spots of Kefalonia, particularly at the waterfront of Argostoli, in Skala, Fiscardo, Sami, Lixouri, even at the airport. Due to its large size, renting a car or motorbike is a convenient way to get around the island.


Boats trip are many in Kefalonia. There are boat trips from Skala to Poros and Katelios. There are very frequent ferries (every 30 min) from Argostoli to Lixouri with return. Also a ferry from the small port of Pesada, on the southern side of Kefalonia, departs for Zakynthos (Agios Nikolaos Shinari), while a ferry from Fiscardo goes to Vassiliki Lefkada.
