Kefalonia Nautical Museum of Fiscardo

Nautical Museum of Fiscardo in Kefalonia: The Nautical and Environmental Museum of Fiscardo is run by the Fiscardo’s Nautical and Environmental Club (FNEC), a non-profit organization.

This museum was formed with the help of volunteers from around the world and with the collaboration of the Ionian Research Centre. Its aim is to develop the sensitivity of the people towards the nautical environment and to promote actions on the environmental protection.

The museum is housed in the former primary school of Fiscardo, which was repaired and renovated for this purpose. The exhibits include pictures of monk seals, caretta caretta turtles, whales, invertebrates, insects and plankton of the area. The museum has also created a radio station that broadcasts regionally and informs people on environmental issues.

The entrance to the museum is free, although visitors usually make contributions to help the voluntary work of Fiscardo’s Nautical and Environmental Club.
