Myrtos Kefalonia: Myrtos is without a doubt one of the most important poles of attraction in Kefalonia. It is located 30km north of Argostoli, in a beautiful area. Myrtos beach has gained worldwide reputation and has been constantly included in travel magazines among the most beautiful and picturesque beaches in the world. Myrtos has been awarded many times for its cleanness and the natural beauty.

The beach has a semi-circular shape surrounded by impressive white rocky cliffs creating a spectacular setting. The greenery area, the abrupt terrain, the white pebbles and the crystal waters compose a unique palette of nature. The beach is well-organized at the most part with umbrellas and sundecks. The other part is completely unspoilt and left with pure natural beauty.
 
The turquoise waters are the trademark of Myrtos, one of the most photographed places in Greece. However, when it is windy the waves are strong. The western coast of Myrtos is ideal to enjoy one of the spectacular sunsets in the Ionian Sea. The visitors will have direct access to a wide range of facilities like a snack bar. Myrtos is easily accessed via a curved road by all means of transport.

Our Impressions

Before descending to this famous beach it is worth enjoying the view from above. The long strip of white sand and beautiful blues of the water can be seen in their full glory from a viewing spot next to the road. Down the steep road to the beach itself and close up the sand is just as white and soft to touch. The water is beautiful here and the whole area is flanked by rock faces which are cream in colour with dashes of greenery. The sea is calm with tiny waves.

This beach has a reputation as one of the best in the world and rightly so. There is little to find fault with aside from its popularity. But even that is not much of a problem such its size.
