Kefalonia Beaches: Lepada Beach Lixouri in Kefalonia Greece
Kefalonia Lepada Beach 01 Lepeda Kefalonia: The red sand beach of Lepeda with red and orange waters is 100 meters long, south of Lixouri, which is the nearest village and the capital of Paliki peninsula of Kefalonia.

The best way to reach Lepeda is via car(s) but the ferry connecting the main part of Kefalonia with Lixouri from Argostoli. Lepeda is connected only with Lixouri and therefore, the return trip from Lepeda is not possible without skipping Lixouri.Lepeda has the capability of bowling you out of your mind owing to its attractive and enchanting picturesque.

Being located at Lepeda, you can make out the exquisite views of the gulf of Argostoli, the British lighthouse (St. Theodori lighthouse), Mount Aenos and Faros. The landscape includes the rocky surroundings of the beach, which are a real treat. The rock formation is at the center of the beach and creates a small rock pool. Also, the beach has a monastery and the cave of Agia Paraskevi that can be found walking down the beach.

The local stories say that the water dripping from the wall of the caves are remedy for eye infections. The religious side of the beach is not over with the monastery and the cave but you can also find a church built into the rocks.Lepeda beach is a popular hub both for tourists and local people during summers. A few restaurants, cafes, taverns are some of the few amenities at Lepeda and also, includes some fashionable apartments behind the beach. The beach does not have arrangements for shade- natural or artificial but the cafes offer easy solution in case the coast becomes windy. The beach is an ideal tourist destination for families and the flat water makes it good for swimming as well.

Our Impressions:
The beach is pleasant if the wind is not up and the Monastery at the end is a bit of a hidden gem.
There is the Monastery and cave of Agia Paraskevi in the area. The Monastery is not signposted and can be found by walking down the beach from the main entrance on the right. You don’t see it until you are almost upon it. Within the grounds is the monastery itself with its pale yellow walls. Behind this you will find a church built into the rocks and next to this a cave with icons and candles. The grounds are well kept here.
