Kounopetra Kefalonia: Kounopetra is a coastal settlement lying on the southern coast of the island. In fact, this beach is considered a huge geological phenomenon in Kefalonia. Basically it is a huge rock which stands out of the sea and creates a relentless movement. In fact, this is how the beach took its name, which means "the moving rock". According to the locals, the rock was moving every 20 minutes before the big earthquake in 1953.
However, Kounapetra is not only interesting for this phenomenon but for the natural greenery surrounding and the clean waters. The beach is small and offers few tourist facilities like umbrellas and sundecks. Next to the beach there is a small picturesque port where boats and yachts moor. There is a wide range of accommodation in the region. |
