Vasilis Retreat Room Kefalonia Assos

With lovely views and a pretty setting just above Assos' square and harbour, this small and friendly pension is just the place to enjoy the simple pleasures of Greece. We first introduced this charming retreat in 1997 and the first season proved to be a complete sell-out. Cream walls and the traditional bright blue paint work set the scene for 8 en suite rooms which are simple but comfortable (and the proposed air-conditioning can only add to this). All have balconies which afford splendid sea views and are furnished and decorated in a simple if slightly eccentric style. Vassili's Retreat will appeal to anyone in search of tranquillity and genuine hospitality. A wonderfully relaxed and pleasantly bohemian atmosphere pervades the terrace, another lovely spot from which to appreciate the view of the village and the bay spread out before you. Breakfast is served here every morning, and the owners have built a lovely swimming pool here as a finishing touch. Assos' unique setting, looking out to the Venetian castle on the headland, has long been a source of inspiration to writers and artists and even today's visitors will find it hard to resist the magic of this special place as it weaves its spell over them.
