Ithaca Perahori Village

Perachori Village Ithaca: The village of Perachori is situated on the slopes of Mount Petaleiko, at an altitude of 240 metres above sea level and only 3km from Vathy, the capital of Ithaca. It is the most densely populated village in Ithaca with 360 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in agriculture and farming.

The people of Paleochora first inhabited the village of Perachori during the Venetian regime. The village lies in one of the most fertile areas of Ithaca with rich green and natural springs.

There are plenty of cafes and a nice choice of accommodation to soak in the pleasures of the village to its fullest. Some of the most interesting sights you shall visit is the Monastery of Taxiarchon and the church of Saint Rafael.

From the monastery one could reach a vast area of vineyards. Perachori is known for the wine production. The wine festival is held every year in the month of August. The village is highly recommended for the spectacular views to Vathy bay and the numerous taverns known for their authentic Greek cuisine.
