Not to wonder why Ulysses wanted so badly to come back to his home island Ithaca after my recent vacation there! The lack of tourist development has meant survival of a peaceful style of life which other obviously attractive Greek islands have lost nowadays. There are tiny pebbly coves all around this small island, which has two harbours Frikes and Kioni. Along picturesque colourful old Venetian houses and remains of windmills, enjoy your dinner waterfront as the waves form the incoming boats smoothly touch your feet. Take a walk on local green valleys where your nose can smell so many herbs (oregano, mountain tea, chamomile etc) and funny as it may sounds you can see even menir (as fellow Obelix!) in Anogi village! Although
Ithaca is too close to other Ionian islands, such as Kefalonia, it is much cheaper but I would not recommended to those who just need nightlife!
