Ithaca Beaches: Minimata beach in Ithaca Greece
Minimata Beach Ithaca: Minimata (or Mnimata) Beach is located at a distance of only 2 kilometers from Vathy, the port capital of Ithaca. It is accessible from the port via a trail keeping to the left side of the coastal road.

The beach is situated towards the dead end of the road. Mnimata beach is also reachable via an asphalt road. This beach is highly recommended for swimming due to the gradual descent of the seashore. Mnimata is an attractive beach. It is known for its crystal clear waters having a bluish tinge to it.

The surrounding greenery is a treat for the eyes, too. Mnimata beach as a result draws hordes of tourists during the peak season. It is strategically located near Skinos bay and has a magnetic charm to it, attracting lots of holidaymakers every year during the summer.

Early in the morning and late in the evening Mnimata beach is practically less crowded. One can have the whole beach to oneself during these odd hours. Trekking up to Mnimata in the pitch darkness of the night and stargazing is an out-of-the-world experience.

The sight of the moon rising over the port of Vathy is also a fabulous picture. One can hire a boat during the early morning hours from Mnimata, cruise over to Kioni for a lunch break, and later return to Mnimata. Occasionally, local species of dolphins can be seen on the journey.
