You want every holiday to be memorable for all the right reasons. In June '06 we weren't disappointed after choosing the Oceanis Apartments for a two week self catering holiday. The location overooking the blue waters of Corfu Bay and the majestic mountains of Corfu, Albania & Greece, all from your balcony was an excellent start. We had hired the smallest of the apartments but they were by no means small. You entered the living area first which consisted of a large sofa that converted to a double bed, a TV on a wall bracket and a table & chairs (none of which were used by us). At the end of the living area was a fridge, very small cooker ( who wants to cook on holiday?), sink & cupboards. The bathroom was just off the kitchen area, the usual wash basin, toilet & shower. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom too. Hot water was always available when showering, something we haven't alwas experienced when abroad. The bedroom was excellent, lovely high ceilings a large airy room with plenty of wardrobe & drawer space for the two of us. The best thing about the room was pulling back the the curtains & having the sun shine though the patio doors first thing in the mornings. We always had orange juice or breakfast sitting at the table on our balcony. The rooms have airconditioning & a safety deposit box all included in the price so no nasty extra charges.
We used the pool everyday, the water was always warm. It usually takes me an age to get into a pool but here it was straight in. It was a nice sized pool with plenty of sunbeds. At times it seemed as though we had a private pool as we were the only ones there. No rushing down first thing in the morning to put towels down to reserve a sunbed. For those with very young children there was no baby pool. There was an outside shower & an indoor one too close to the pool area. It's all as you see in the photos on the Oceanis web site but better. It took us less tham a minute to get to the tiny shingle beach below our apartmets, you will be shown the shortcut. There is a bigger beach at Gylfa & a large pebble beach in the main area of Barbati. The sea was so clear and still. We loved walking down to it & I'd float about on the lilo whilst my husband went snorkling. We aren't ones for lying on the beach so we would head back up to the pool, shower then swim or read a book under the free parasols provided.
Some of the tables in the restaurant area are now under a bamboo cover. It was excellent (even romantic) sitting down to eat there when the sun went down & the lights all along the bays were glimmering. We enjoyed sitting under the parasols drinking frappes in the mornings and carafs of wine late in the afternoons. Food was available from early moring until late at night. The food was first class. We ate at the Oceanis 7 out of 14 days. The fish dishes were our favorites, and we thoroughly enjoyed the starters and salads. Everything was freshly prepare and served hot. We hadn't planned to eat there as much as we've been to Barbati before & knew some nice restaurants, but the food was so good and very reasonably priced why both walking elsewhere. Infact the only times we did eat out was when we drove to other small tavernas along the coast i.e Agni, Kalami, Agios Stephanos and a must is Corfu Town.
The sucsess of the Oceanis Apartments lie with the owners Nikos & his sister Iliana who are the nicest, friendliest, warm and welcoming hosts. Nothing was too much troble for them. We feel we have made good friends in them. Doritas who worked there was also very friendly always smiling, & 'Chef' was a good laugh too, when things got hot in the kitchen in the aftrnoons he'd sometimes drive in the pool.
The apartmets are approx 10 mins walk from the main resort of Barbati which is only a small resort.

In many ways I regard Corfu as my spiritual home, and the oceanis plays a significant role in all that. At times like today when I'm sat in my offices in Manchester, i have to switch off for a few minutes and check out the oceanis web site and 3D tour. The pictures represent the oceanis exactly how it it, in all its magnificence. The Colours of the Ionian, the greens the emeralds, the turquoise, the blue's and the beatiful olive groves skirting the slopes of Pantokrator. The peace and serenity seem a million miles away from the fast moving, in your face mentality of a Northern England Morning.
I have these images in my mind from my 3rd visit to the oceanis. Of Dancing on the Bar until the small hours and nearly breaking my hand on the ceiling fan, of reading my books by the banana tree near the corner of the pool, of swimming in the crystal clear waters below, and of watching Niko's uncle pedal his boat in the pursuit of fresh Octopus.
And was that Octopus in Mustard or Vinegar something else. Quite superb
My fellow guests have probably forgiven my stupid dancing by now. Its is not a pretty sight seeing a slightly over weight chap from Widnes dancing on a bar.But I enjoyed it immensley and once again I was able to find the real me.
You should go here if you want to find yourself, and be entertained by Nikos serving drinks into the small hours. I cant wait to go again.

I found the oceanis rooms on the internet 3 years ago when I was going on holiday with my sister-in-law in Sept04. These rooms are set in a beautiful scenic part of Corfu. The rooms have all the amenities required for self catering and are kept clean with fresh linen on a regular basis, there is also a beautiful pool with free sun loungers. The food is outstanding, always fresh, hot and to a high standard. This would be enough for me to recommend the oceanis to anybody, but what made it so special for us are the owners.
When I came home from my weeks holiday I raved so much about the place to my husband he decided he would go in May05. He enjoyed it so much he insisted going back Sept06 for his 50th birthday. Niko, Illianna and Demitri laid on a surprise birthday party for him, with the best cooked lamb we have ever tasted, birthday cake, candles and all the trimmings.(Niko learnt Scottish dancing that night). We have been back in May07 and are going again Sept07. Every time we return Niko and Illianna weem as happy to see us as we are to see them. We have spent many a good night laughing, talking and drinking with them into the wee hours of the morning. (NIKO AND ILLIANNA ARE THE BEST.) |

We happened to come across the tripadvisor review of this hotel while heading to Greece from Italy. Not being a fan of the phone, I was able to book the entire reservation on the internet which was so convenient.
Our plan was to stay three nights and once we got there decided to stay a total of five. There is a small beach right near the hotel and the pool is amazing.
The best part of the hotel is the unbelievable treatment. We felt like family and would definitely go back or welcome Nikos into our home.
