Benitses Corfu: The picturesque fishing village of Benitses lays 13, 5 kilometres south of Corfu Town and has a population of about 800 inhabitants. Since a few years, the village has become a high touristy resort; despite that fact, the streets of the old village have kept their authentic colours and atmosphere.

In Benitses, one will find some taverns, cafes, bars, accommodation, a sandy beach and many other beaches which are situated in the surrounding area.
 
The main attraction of the village of Benitses is the Shell Museum which has the best shell collection of Europe and exhibits all kind of shells, coral, shark’s jaws and various fascinating fishes.

Our Impressions

The beach of Benitses is quite small and pebby. There is an even smaller small bay to the left. Behind the beach lies a row of hotels, bars and restaurants. If you can manage to see over these there is a good view up the hillside of the cypress trees. There isn’t much in the way of waves and the water laps against the shore. The resort street is full of fast food places and scooter hire shops but venture a bit further and there are some nicer narrow streets.
Benitses has a reputation for package tourism and though this is still here the beach is not as crowded as some of the resorts further up the north coast. It may not be the fishing village of old but the beach is pleasant enough.

- Shops/Minimarket: The main street lies very close to the street and has a wide selection of shops.

- Transportation: Bus arrives here.
- Beach Activities: Some watersports in the area.
