Corfu: Avliotes Corfu

Avliotes Corfu: Avliotes is a mountainous settlement lying at the northwest side of the island, 40km from Corfu Town. It is a green village set against a background of hills. The village has lovely houses with traditional architecture yet the most impressive spot is the church of Virgin Mary that dates back to 18th century, standing on a high platform at the highest point of the village.

There is an old-fashioned kafenion in Avliotes and many traditional shops selling handmade things and local products. There is a nice tavern serving tasty food located halfway along the main street. Set in a wonderful setting just above Agios Stefanos, Avliotes is close to a long sandy beach with crystal and shallow water.
