In the Archaeological Museum of Corfu on will also admire
other founds from excavations from the archaeological
sites of the island, from the ancient town of Cassiopeia
and items from a private collection.

Housed in the Church of Antivouniotissa, which is the
oldest and richest churches in Corfu island and was donated
in 1979 in order to become a museum, the Byzantine Museum
of Corfu exhibits a rich collection of Byzantine and post-Byzantine
icons and relics, representing more than five centuries
of religious fervour and art.

The museum was first a Chinese and Japanese Art Museum
(until 1974) and became an Asian Art Museum later, when
its collection was enriched with other private collection
objects and items from Asia.

Dionysius Solomos is the National Greek Poet who wrote
the lyrics of the National Greek Hymn; he lived the major
part of his life in the island of Corfu (1798-1857) where
he wrote a great part of his work.
The museum is housed in the beautiful house where the
poet used to live and exhibits many of Solomos’personnal
items, a collection of its manuscripts, various portraits
and some photographic material.
The house of the poet was turned into a museum by the
Corfiot Studies Society but also into a centre of Solomos
Studies.

This museum is housed in a traditional house in the village
of Sinarades, 12 kilometres away of Corfu Town.
The museum is divided in two parts: the first part of
the museum consists in a reconstitution of the interior
of a house of the 19th century, with the traditional kitchen,
dinning room, bedroom and all the original utensils, decoration
and furniture of the epoch.
The second part of the museum a collection of traditional
and local every day objects, tools, costumes, instruments
and many other interior’s and exterior’s house items.
The Municipal gallery of Corfu houses a wide collection
of donated works of the most famous Corfiot artists from
the 19th century such as Pachis, Haralambos, Pavlos Prossalendis,
Angelos Giallinas, Skarvelis, Koyevinas, Samartxis and
many others.
