All people say that the north of Corfu is the best part, but I enjoyed south the most. You drive along narrow hills up and down and you pass through small villages, under arched roads and by traditional Greek coffee houses that have tables in the yard and old men are drinking coffee or playing cards under the shadow.
You don't see pictures like these in the northern side, where hundreds of tourists are packed in small beaches like Paleokastritsa and all you see is hotels, hotels and hotels like in Acharavi. The south from Benitses till Lefkimi is actually a green mountainside with villages dotted here and there and delicious taverns on top of hills with view to the sea.
Agios Mattheos is a lovely village and the region of Agii Deka have beautiful villas in the middle of forests. Issos is a sandy beach to swim and do windsurfing. I think this is the only place in
Corfu to do windsurfing or kitesurfing.
Corfu Town is also very interesting and you will find it a delight to walk in the narrow paths in a busy morning. Reminds kind of Venice, doesn't it?
