Corfu Reviews -General

This is a beautiful island with very picturesque landscape, particularly in north east. Lovely friendly people, especially in tavernas. Corfu Town is a wonderful place to visit. It is cosmopolitan but with a lot ofharacter, fantastic restaurants and culture. In every corner, you will find something new to take pictures. People also talk different in Corfu than in rest of Greece. Their accent is more musical and the locals told me it is because they inherited this accent from the Venetians. I absolutely loved Corfu!

The beaches were very different over the island. I preferred stony, still waters as we have a child. Although sandy beaches were good on west coast, water was a little rough in places. Try Paleokastritsa, Sidari, Canal d'Amour to swim and avoid Acharavi. It has big rocks and high waves.

The Archaelogical Museum in Corfu Town was interesting as was the old Fortress. Better to visit early morning due to heat during day. Kanoni was an amazing experience with the small church in front and the planes going over our heads. Kids also loved the Shell Museum in Benitses. Also from the old port of the Town, take the boat to Vidos islet. This is the small, green island right opposite the harbor of Corfu. There are quiet beaches to swim and a nice restaurant with view to the town.
