Pelekas Corfu: The picturesque Pelekas beach is idyllically located on the western coast of Corfu. The exact location of this splendid beach is opposite to the main Corfu town, which is popularly referred to as the Kerkyra.

There is also a village of the same name which is perched on top of a hill and below the hill is the beautiful Pelekas beach. The beach can be reached either by walking which shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes. Hired taxis too are availed to reach the beach.

 
The Pelekas beach has been subjected to the specter of mass unrestricted tourism ever since the 1960’s and has ever since than been a favorite destination for backpackers. You will be surprised to note that even the local residents speak English fluently and many speak with a distinct American and Australian accent. The locals are warm and friendly and they go that extra mile just to see their international guests smiling.

The beach is conspicuous by its soft sands and there is no dearth of sunbeds. Modern beach amenities like toilets and shower facilities are available in plenty.

As far as cleanliness of the beach is concerned, it is indeed marvelously clean. For those interested on going to short excursions, a trip to the quaint fishing harbor located down south can be a very rewarding experience.

For the intrepid thrill seekers, there are numerous rocky cliffs from where one can jump into the water. These jumping spots have been popularized by numerous high quality travel shows on TV.
