A long 10-hour trip will get you to Kos. The trip is nice but after the first 4-5 hours, it was getting tiring. We didn't have a cabin and as it was night, we couldn't even see the islands passing by. I advice you to take the day ferry, the trip will be more enjoyable.

For me, Patra has nothing to envy from other cities, it really provides everything. The streets are full with young people and students, mostly because of the University of Patra. In fact, I have a friend who studies there.

Holidays on Leros can be combined with visiting other close islands, like Kalymnos or Patmos. At least, that is what we did. We went to Leros by plane and then hopped by boat to these two islands. There are boats every day and the trip will not take more than an hour.

Hydra is one of the best choices if you want a nice place close to Athens. I would say Agistri and Hydra are the most beautiful islands that are so close to Athens.
