This is the most important of all archaeological museums in Greece and exhibits some of the finest archaeological collections in the country. The museum actually narrates the Greek history from the prehistoric till the modern times.

There, you will find various interesting items, from Neolithic tools, classical statues and Roman inscriptions to folklore costumes. It also organises temporary exhibitions. The museum is located very close to Omonoia Square in Athens, in an impressive Neoclassical building.

The archaeological museum of Mycenae exhibits some of the oldest findings in Greece. Although the museum is a bit small, its exhibits are very interesting. The most impressive exhibits are the golden mask of Agamemnon (copy) and the jewerly of Clytemnestra. The museum is located within a walking distance from the ancient site.

Opening Days: All museums of Greece are closed on Monday and Sunday.

Public Holidays: Museums are closed in 25th December, 26th December, New Year's Day, Good Friday (closed until 12:00 a.m.), Easter Day, May 1st and Independence Day (March 25th).
