Found these in our database and uploaded them just for you. All the pictures of Lesvos should be uploaded in a few weeks.
There must be many other pebble beaches but 95% of the population like sandy beaches. That is , I suppose, the reason why you wont see easily pebble and rocky beaches on the web.

Thank you, but this is also sand beach. Look incide water the bottom is sand :( . Where have sand there have no fish there have nothing - only wilderness.
The photo which I show for example is from Crete. There have wonderful sea underwater life, but this year my wife choose Lesvos already paid the holidays without asking me and now we have big scandals in home :(.

Greece has mostly sandy beaches but the beaches are not like in the west coast of France with km and km of sand...
Here you have beach then rocks then beach then rock.... So, you won't be disapointed.

Sand and rock

hi!

Here is the url to my photo of Eftalou beach of Lesvos.

http://s20.photobucket.com/albums/b226/ ... 180ce1.jpg

I hear that there is good snorkeling around Aghia Isidoros. You can read about it yourself at:
http://www.lesvos.com/plomari.html

Also the Eftalou area and Molyvos coast and far more rocky, but there can be strong currents. Sigri seems to have quite a wild coastline. Its rockformations are very barren on an otherwise very green island.

Sandy beaches are Eressos, Skala Kallonis, Kavia and Gavatha. Gavatha did not have any rocks that I could see, but it did have sea life.

Good luck and enjoy your stay!

Great album SKLesvos!!
In the net have million photos for Lesvos, but no one can beat the pictures you show me :) .
Seems Eftalou is the best (for me) beach in Lesvos. I will make my reservations only in this area.
How about Plomari? I will visit it as well, because my favorite uzo is Plomari  .

hi!
Thank you for your kind words.

A little more on the towns and areas:

Plomari is a tourist area offering alot for all the family, it has a promenade and lots of cafes and taverna's. Aghia Isodorus is close by. If you only want to dive and see underwater world then the bays Gera and Kalloni although very beautiful, will not suit your appetite. I don't dive, but if I did, I would rent a car and go out and try different area's. On my list would be Sigri, Gavatha (these are close together) Molyvos and Eftalou (these are close together too), in the south I would try around the Plomari area. (like Aghios Isidorus)

take a look at for some more info on beaches: http://www.lesvos.com/beaches.html

Eftalou is close to Molyvos if you want a bit more liveliness, Eftalou has a hot spring (organised baths) and the beginning of the area (beach) is easily accessed. But then you do have to walk a bit before you get to the beach area, and thats along the craggy edge of the rocks!

This is another link I found on diving areas: http://www.lesvoscuba.gr/en-places.htm

Maybe they can help you with filling stations etc. They also suggest some more areas too besides the ones I mentioned.

Should you stay in Eftalou do eat at Vafios taverna in Vafios one evening, you look out on Molyvos at night and the coastline below, its magic! Restaurant Vafios won't kill you price wise and its considered to be in the top ten of greek restaurants.

Good luck on your choice!
My fave ouzo is Psaropoulo. Yammas!

Thanks A LOT SKLesvos ! You just made the map of my trip this summer.
2 Days in Plomari then I'll move to the North and next 2 weeks I will be only in this area - Sigri, Gavatha, Eftalou and Molyvos.
I will visit the recomended by your tavernas and definately I will try this ouzo Psaropoulo .
I have one more question. I know that Lesvos is very big island, but how many hours is the trip with car between Plomari and Sigri?

p.s. I found lesvoscuba.gr as well and I will use their diving map for guide where to dive. Pity they have not forum.
