On top of Athens....

by citytripper » Wed Jan 27, 2010 3:17 am

Heya all,

During a couple of city trips around Europe I found out that it's way more fun to arange the best overview points, while most of the time these viewpoints are even way less touristic than you may expect.

In Paris we heard about La Tour Montparnasse (a large building where you can go up to the top floor and overview Paris, even the Eiffel Tower).

In Barcelona you got the mountain Tibidabo, from which you may overlook almost whole the city.

In Athens I found out about city2enjoy.com/athens/climbmountlycabettus.html . Anyone else more suggestions? The less touristic the better!!

Thanks in advance!

Philopappou Hill is also nice and the hill of Prophet Elias in Piraeus.

Also do not forget the Acropolis! From there you see the whole town.

Athens is surrounded by Mountains: Parnitha and Ymitos.
There is a Casino high on Parnitha. You will be amazed by the view up there. You can access the casino with a cable car

yes, parnitha is very nice but I read on the paper that the casino Mont Parnes will be closed for the following years due to restoration works.
