Sleepy Sikinos - a little gem that is so quiet it only has 3 restaurants in the port and about the same in the Chora! It is an amazing 'get away from it all' destination. The little port is lovely and the beach is very pleasant although you can get to other beaches using the taxi boats. The Chora is a lovely place to explore, but it is so naturally greek that you feel you are intruding slightly on the lives of the people who live there!
The people were amazingly friendly and after a few days there, they were greeting us in the streets and waving as they drove past. If you want peace and quiet, I can recommend it, but remember that because it is so un-touristy the season Closes on 1st September and even the restaurant staff leave the island (we couldn't get any breakfast the day we left as they had closed everything up!). The staff were getting on the same ferry as us to head for Athens!!
Great place - hope lots of you get to experience it. |
