| How strange that no-one is talking about Thassos!! Is there no-one out there that has visited this island? My friends live in Limenas - they moved there from the UK two years ago, and have built a strong bond with the island and now have a wonderful life in the community there. I would love to hear people's comments about this island and what it has to offer - it must be a very special place to attract my friends away from their families in the UK! |

| Well, one poster mentioned the island in the "Best Beaches of Greece" section, so at least somebody's been there! |

Of course we don't talk about Thassos, educate people about a perfect
island its a secret we keep to ourselve's.Just imagine Thassos full
of tourists ugh what terrible thought,oh no we keep quiet about Thassos,,
the main port what great place it is and to catch a ferry to Kavala, its
very busy, also they have a market in Kavala you can almost see
from the ferry. But how busy it is its heaven to step on Thassos at the end
of the day, sshhh enough said,oh ruddy heck i can't stop.
The villages just to mention one Panagia where spring water bubbles
up its so pure and good to drink, i always drink the water in greece
and the islands with no problem. Okay now and then i find it a little to
relaxing,Do know my pet hate of greece well its they can't make
a good cup of tea you are always given a tea bag with a yellow label
with liptons on it (i think)..... |

Hi , Thassos , oh what a beautiful place , went there about 17years ago on a boat trip from halkidiki stayed about 2-3 hours , didn't know the name of the place then . Then about 6years later we booked and stayed at Skala Potamias, something funny , weve been here before , yes it was where the boat had called at . Last year we went again . This year we are also going again to Skala Potamias , yes it is nice there . Regards pigeon |

Hi Alexis , Yes Greece is changing , but the peoples in the main are not , they are still friendly and good natured , loverly people . I love Greek food , Kokoretsi ,goat and lamb on the spit , papusakia , octopus, squid, i'll try anything even the 2 1/2"long sardines . The mountain tea is this made with the herbs ie sage ? Panagia , walked up to there from Skala Potamias took me 2 hours last year . Came back the short cut way through "the gardens" so a local called it , it took about 1/2 hour off the return journey . There is a pipe right on a bend in the road from which water flows , i saw a local stop his vehicle , get out and fill a bottle with the water , he also drank the water when i asked if it was drinkable , good enough for him , good enough for me . loverly views on this walk . Regards pigeon |
